Disclosure Notice and Applicant Questionnaire
The District Attorney’s Office is a law enforcement agency. To that end, this Applicant Questionnaire is designed to gather information relevant to assessing an applicant for employment as a member of a law enforcement agency. Disclosures: Public Officers Law Section 3(1) requires that all persons holding civil office be citizens of the United States. Accordingly, United States citizenship is required of all Assistant District Attorneys upon commencement of their employment. The District Attorney requires a three year commitment of all ADAs. No outside legal practice is permitted. The District Attorney must approve other non-legal, part-time employment and will not approve employment that has the potential of raising a conflict or detract from professional responsibilities. Public Officers Law Section 28 requires residency within the State of New York for all Assistant District Attorneys upon commencement of their employment. Because an ADA may have work assignments which require travel throughout the county, an ADA must have access to transportation which facilitates prompt travel to any location in the county. An ADA is an at will employee who serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney.
